WORKING HARD - CHILDREN AND STAFF !

All the staff have been working hard to get their paediatric first aid certificates renewed. This means spending four  X  3 hour evenings of training to make sure we can keep all our Playschool children safe. Well done team ! '

One rainy afternoon some of the children enjoyed standing in the water and making "trainer prints" as they marched around.

Many of the children enjoyed digging for fossils in the outside area and the sandpit , one child even found a dinosaur egg!!

The children have enjoyed playing 'What's in the Box' this week and one child
was very pleased when we said "our activity today is What's in the Box", they
replied with a punch of the fists in the air and said "YESSS!!"

USA

The children have been working hard punching out stars and gluing them along with red strips to make the USA star spangled banner as we look at America this week . One child spent nearly an hour concentrating on this task while others started then came back later to complete to their satisfaction .

The children have made trains and planes out of chairs and have been heading to the seaside and  London. They have all seemed to have as particular interest in London this week. With one child telling us about his mummy has gone to London.   We think we need to look at London next week !

SETTLING BACK IN

At Towerview Playschool this week we have enjoyed seeing the children really engaging in role play with each other and how they are starting to connect with each other much more.
Wednesday morning it was great to see the 3 and 4 year old making an aeroplane out of ALL the chairs and going on holiday. They included handbags, beautiful dresses and even a pilot, all done completely independently. Brilliant!

At Broadway Playschool on Monday the 2-3 yr olds had the soft foam balls out at the end of the session and with lots of space to run, the children really enjoyed running after the balls.  They kept asking the adults to kick / bring the balls back asking "again again!  Also some goals were scored !

England , snow and chairty fundraising !

In our 'travels ' around the world - our place to visit this week was England. The children have collaged flags, prepared, weighed, made and eaten Yorkshire puddings and  have enjoyed making London buses and even added details to these by adding passengers, doors and lights.

We have been discussing with children the importance of listening. This has been particularly needed with the icy weather.

Some of the children made a camp outside, which included a ‘bonfire’. They pretended to roast marshmallows and make hot chocolate. They were very safety aware as they made a barrier out of foam bricks for us to sit on so we didn’t get to close!!  Very clever and lots of fun.

Friday Forest School was very exciting in the snow on Friday – the children really enjoyed exploring and using it in the mud kitchen or ‘snow kitchen’!!

The little ones at Broadway Playschool needed a little encouragement to explore the shredded paper, they were soon involved and having lots of fun pretending is was snow sprinkling each other. They also enjoyed looking and touching the sprinkling of snow outside.
