VALENTINES & FIRST WEEK BACK

The children's footprint hearts were really lovely - our student worked hard to support the children to achieve heart shaped footprints. We also made heart print cards and  twisted bread in heart shapes.
Lovely valentine heart collages were made with the 2-3 group who really got 'stuck ' in !

Our student made a  black and white cake with the children which turned out really dark - she did a very good job and the children responded very well.
It looked fantastic ! Well done to our student who did a fantastic job with the activity.

Great experiment done today with liquids in a glass - to look at density and thinness of different liquids and what floats and sinks - all the children were captured by the process and concentrated for over 20 minutes!

After sorting out the dressing up and refreshing our role play area - there was lots of discussions, and fantastic 'doctors & nurse' role play with great language!  - one of the staff was given a check over, a diagnosis and  lots of bandages were used on everyone.

During bug hunting at forest school (Wednesday) -we found lots of large, green, juicy slugs!  It was  funny watching the children trying to pick them up. On Friday in forest school - despite the rain - we managed a fire and made pop corn - the children had a glittery 'krispie' cake and sang 'happy  birthday ' to Jude.

heavy & light !

When doing the floating and sinking of objects in the water tank all the children seemed to really enjoy it and found it really interesting & didn't they do well predicting the out come -such clever children !!

On Friday we all had was fun doing PE over at ‘ big school’, they all got very excited, hot and tired too!!

With all the rain Forest school has been very wet - but this hasn't dampened the children's spirits - they jumped in and out of the digging areas = ‘Mud glorious mud’ !  The newly coppiced climbing tree is proving very popular (with an adult stood next to it to ensure safe use).

We are  very proud the way the children have welcomed the new children into the group - looking after them and helping them to settle -   one child said    "Bill said his first words !"  - like a proud parent !

BLACK & WHITE

This week we were doing black and white and even the playdough managed to stay in separate black and white piles !!

Shredded paper a huge hit with the 2-3 group !lots of laughter! giggling! squealing ! and conversations too. We hid animals in the paper and stuffed it into tubes and buckets. Lots of snipping with scissors and making striking black and white pictures.

It was great to see the Thursday children doing yoga and we used the PE spots to get our heart rates up on Tuesday

The children enjoyed a visit to the library this week, there was 'good sitting' and 'good listening' as a story about an owl who stayed awake in the day to find out what it was like, ' "WOW!" Said the owl' it was called. Then a quick march back to playschool for some music and dance.....Becky does walk fast!

At forest school lots of children enjoyed helping to make mud today in forest school, we used it to do stencil leaf prints.
