BROADWAY ARTS FESTIVAL

This week as part of the Broadway Arts festival we were lucky enough to have a visit  from John Kirk the Story teller - he was amazing …...the children had such a lovely time. He performed 'The Gingerbread Man' and 'The Three Little Pigs' and everyone took part.

One day we enjoyed a walk to the local shop to buy fruit and then we all helped to make a fruit salad the following day. The children all cut up a variety of fruit and showed good control and it was delicious !

At Broadway Playschool the younger children have really enjoyed playing outside all together and spending time playing in the water. We are all enjoying having the visiting student back and the warm weather has allowed us to have snack time outside with the two year olds. They have also enjoyed the play dough this week.
At Towerview much fun has been had with the castle and figures, this week, self selecting the equipment and lots of imaginative play seen and extended language heard.

At Forest school this week we explored the bugs and some of the children made a bug hotel with a swimming pool. The building at the back of the forest school area is complete and we are now able to hear and see the birds.

WE HAVE BEEN ASKED NOT TO USE THE SCHOOL CAR PARK AS IT IS FOR SCHOOL STAFF ONLY - thankyou for your cooperation.

PRACTISING FOR WIMBLEDON

Some of the children have enjoyed the 'marble run' this week, working together to problem solve. There has been some lovely interaction and it is fabulous to see the delight on their faces when the ball has gone all the way from the top to the bottom.

Outside the children have really enjoyed using the bats and balls to develop and show off their tennis skills.

Along with the children, Sarah also learnt something this week when she attempted
(with help from Jo & Tarah) to make peppermint (& vanilla) 'caterpillars' sweets !
The children really enjoyed following the instructions to make them too!

They also made their own playdough, following the recipe and had fun playing with it all week.

WEDDING CELEBRATIONS & HAPPY WHIT HALF TERM HOLIDAYS!

This week, to mark the Royal Wedding of Harry and Meghan, the children have enjoyed making  Royal crowns and checking out how they look in the mirror as a prince or princess!!  They have also enjoyed preparing & tasting food for the 'street party' , so that even those not in on Thursday had prepared and tasted the party food. They enjoyed sharing  hot dogs and jelly & ice cream, yum yum!!

The children have loved watching the peas seeds and mung beans grow that they planted the week before, in a 'green house' made out of egg box, complete with compost and clear food bags They have been noting the changes occurring over the past week.

On Wednesday at Broadway Playschool with the 2-3year olds we enjoyed a lovely walk across the fields this week.  We saw the brook and small water falls and had to avoid the sheep poo but there were a few miss haps! We had our snack as a picnic and had sometime in the park on the swings and slide. We also took some photos which we hope to share in the setting.

A wet Friday Forest School was made warmer with a fire and use of  the Kelly Kettle, to boil water to make custard and finish off the 'wedding' sponge cake.  The children are loving playing '123 where are you?'  and finding snails in the dense vegetation.

FEELS LIKE SUMMER !

REMEMBER YOUR CHILD'S SUNSCREEN & NAMED SUN HAT !

On Monday we all made did pizza with sausages and cheese just like the one  'The Hungry Caterpillar ate.  Everyone enjoyed sorting and sifting and mixing  the ingredients for the base and each child loved taking their slice of pizza home.

Tuesday was a good day for the children, as we had lots of smiling happy faces during our time over at 'Big School', in the hall.  The children enjoyed playing musical statues and 'sleeping lions' and all did really, really well.

All children have been thoroughly enjoyed 'The Florist' in the role play area this week.  They have made wedding bouquets ( ready for harry and Meghan!) , decorated the book shelves with flowers and even learnt how to wrap the flowers in paper.

I have been to a 'Gifford's Circus' performance over at Sudeley castle - I can thoroughly recommend it - for all ages !

HAPPY EASTER !

The children have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in many Easter activities over the week. They have made Easter rabbit hats, Easter cards and yummy Easter nests.
They have been playing outside a lot in the spring sunshine and searching for eggs after the Easter bunny has been on our Easter egg hunts.

'Stickman' continues to go to different children's homes and over the next week he will be on holiday with one of the staff team. The book of his adventures continues to grow and are are reading it weekly as a group to update ourselves on his adventures.

At Forest school there has been a lot of interest in the newly created 'bug hotel' and seeing the daffodils start to flower. It has been lovely to hear and see the birds while the children listen and watch carefully. There has been much digging and making of 'food' in the mud kitchen too!

Have a very Happy Easter everyone!

HAPPY MOTHERING SUNDAY!

The children thoroughly enjoyed playing in our last bit of snow. They made snow castles, scooped up snow into barrels, made tractor tracks and snow soup !

As we start our transition work for those going up to school in September 2018 we had a fantastic PE session in the school hall this week. The children were showing off their physical skills with a variety of cartwheels, 'roly polys', hopping, skipping, jumping  and even a bit of break dancing!!...great fun! They did very well. Good fun was had by all.

At both settings we were all very busy making Mothering Sunday cards. The children worked really hard to follow the sequence and to 'write' their own name.

'OUR DAY' CLOCK
Please can we have photos for the clock at Playschool ? - TO HELP THE CHILDREN UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF TIME - we put photos around the clock of the different things the children do at different times of day. Photos of them eating meals at home - walking the dog - going to the park or library, brushing teeth and going to bed would all be very welcome.
