SHOPS & AUTUMN TREES !

BROADWAY PLAYSCHOOL

We’ve been playing shops at Broadway this week.

There has been some lovely role play from the children this week, with the children mark making their shopping lists and then taking turns to choose and pay for their items from the 'shop'. The children were great at identifying the fruit and vegetables in the play.

They have also been doing lots of colour mixing when painting and enjoying looking at our photos from home.

At Towerview Playschool

Lots of portrait done loads of hand prints made for the ‘autumn tree’. They enjoyed cutting them out later and gluing them on the tree shape.

Many of the children have enjoying the musical instruments and making their own boxes up of things for what's in the box getting peers to join in.

Some great faces were drawn from looking at ourselves in the mirror this week (watch out for the display).

A very muddy time was had in forest school too, with lots of mud pies being made, puddle jumping and mud painting.  Some great animal homes were made too.

feed the birds !

This week the children have been busy making handprints to make an autumn tree display and  mixing lard, bird seed into plastic cups to make bird feeders to take down to forest school to support the birds over the winter months.

There is much mark making going on – with some children beginning to form letters , describe their pictures and doing the ’register’ with Jude.

The blustery weather has meant we had to stay indoor Monday morning - but we got out as soon as it was safe and we couldn’t get blown away. The children enjoyed feel the noise – ‘whooshy’ and thinking about why it was windy!    The umbrellas have also come in useful this week !!

The evening about forest school and communication was well attended by parents who said they enjoyed the evening - meeting other parents and chatting to staff. It was lovely to see everyone relaxed and making new connections.

There is a sickness bug going around – remember it is 48 hours at home from last bout of sickness before they can return to Playschool.

CONKERS !!

The children really enjoyed going on a walk to find some conkers - although not many were left!  It was lovely to go out collecting and then sorting them into big –small and very tiny!! and playing with them. We then thought of ways to use them- including rolling them down guttering and painting with them.
We also painted leaves and made prints form them – which look really good.
They really enjoyed mixing mud and water and then making welly mud prints at Forest school. In the afternoon this activity was extended to use the children’s feet - " it's squishy" was one of the reactions heard.
It was great to see some of children playing together all day, some have made lovely connections and are sharing some great communication –  real friendships in the making!

Remember to bring in some photos for our CLOCK  display !

OURSELVES !

BROADWAY PLAYSCHOOL- the 2-3 group, are all settling in so well !

Lots of role play and conversations witnessed. Helping each other along the crates and planks, balancing and holding hands.

The play house has been very busy this week with the children initiating the popular idea of it being an ice cream stall!

We are also enjoying new stories =’Kippers toy box’ and ‘I wrote to the zoo’- the children are really enjoying joining in with the stories.

AT TOWERVIEW PLAYSCHOOL

Jo & Jude saw Warwick Castle constructed twice this week, as they were building – one child told us, " we're building Warwick Castle but it's not like Warwick Castle"

Jo had some helpers making the height chart, and one child made her own giraffe one and it was brilliant, we think she's named it ‘Rose’!

It was great to see some of the group working together, helping each other on logs and planks and really taking care of one another.

On Friday  morning we popped into the MacMillan Coffee morning and bought a cake each to eat at Forest school   - yum !!

!!!! REMEMBER YOUR CHILD NEEDS THEIR WELLIES ON WEDS OR FRI MORNINGS FOR FOREST SCHOOL !!!!!

SETTLING - AUTUMN & COOKING !!!

Been a great 2nd week back, seeing new friendships form. It is amazing how well all the new children from Broadway Playschool seem to have settled in at Towerview Playschool this year!

The children have had fun getting to know each other and the staff team -  we've been "rolling the ball" to each other and playing the "empty chair" game

Fun was had at our first Forest School session, with climbing, digging and exploring all taking place. We had a lovely morning, then in the afternoon went for a little walk to collect conkers. When we got back some lovely role play was witnessed.

Some of the children have enjoyed making scones and getting messy while learning about quantities –‘ full’ / and ‘not full’

All the children at Broadway Playschool have been enjoying our lovely new water play – thanks to donations from our ‘leaver ‘ families – THANKYOU !

WELCOME TO THE AUTUMN TERM

Welcome to all our families new and old!

The children have come in and mostly settled quickly some needing a bit more time and reassurance.

The 'roll the ball and say your name game' has been fun - and we are all beginning to get to know each other.

We have been making some hedgerow muffins today for the Food Festival Sunday and have entries from last term for the Horticultural Show on Saturday.   Both on the village green.
The children really enjoyed using the electric cake mixer and putting in the blackberries they had picked the previous day.

Forest school sessions will start next week - Weds & Fridays

Our theme this half term will be 'all about ourselves ' - learning about each other too !
