This week ‘stickman ‘had been to Italy to look for his ‘family
tree’. He didn’t find it but he did have some good adventures. The children made Italy’s national flag –
copying an example and hung them up to make a lovely display.
All
the children enjoyed making pizzas, this included making the dough from scratch
and making the pizza base using rolling pins or their hands. Then they had to
help cut up the different toppings, and decide what they want on their pizza. One
child made a face out the toppings on their pizza. They looked and tasted
yummy!
We have also made real
ice cream together in Jo’s mum’s ice cream make – Thank you Jo’s Mum!
It was lovely
to see how they were re-enacting the ‘Stickman’ story after story time with Stickman props from the story sack. There was lots of interaction between
the children and staff. Great fun.
Outside they have been
making swimming pools using the foam
blocks then using chalks to colour the ground blue for the water. Just
the weather for outdoor swimming !
Some of the girls in
the group enjoyed pretending to be fire fighters and put out the "fire" using the hoses.
At Broadway
Playschool the children followed the recipe for oat biscuits on Monday, then we
made savoury oat cakes on Wednesday. They really concentrated, weighing out the
ingredients and helped stir and roll out the mixture. They all enjoyed sitting
on the big tyre outside to have a winter picnic - munching oat cakes!
